The Roman Empir is the most known empire in existence. It was once a city state founded in 753 BC and became a republic. After the Punic Wars with Carthage Rome became a major power in the Mediterranean. In 56 BC Rome entered a civil war and later became an Empire in 27BC. Over time Rome grew until it became too large to manage.

Although Rome was large it was weak because of it being outstretched. It split into the Western Empire and the Eastern Empire. The West quickly collapsed while The East lasted for another thousand Years.
