Rules/how the game is played
Soccer is a team sport. Each game there are two teams that play on a field with a goal on each side. The major rule in the game is that you cannot pick up the ball unless you are the goalie. If you do something illegal then you can get either yellow carded or red carded. If you are yellow carded twice or red carded once then you are kicked out of the game. Another important rule is that you cannot pass the ball to a player who is past the last defender. This would be in off sides and a free kick for the other team were the foul was committed. When there is a goal the other team starts with the ball in the center of the field. Unlike most games the clock counts up because adding time is much easier that way. Depending on the age and leuge the size of the field and ball vary.

Similarities
Soccer has a lot of similarities with basketball. they have the same goal, to score more than the other team. They also are both fast paced and have a huge following. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, while basketball is very popular in America. Soccer does not have very many similarities with base ball except they both use balls and are moderately low scoring games.
