Swiss Education

Overview

Switzerland prides itself in having what they consider the best education system of any country. Education is highly valued, and it is made sure that every child gets a chance to attend school through a high level.

Levels of Education

  1. Compulsory Levels

    1. Primary Level: Comprised of the first 8 years of general schooling including an optional 2 years of Kindergarten.
    2. Lower Secondary Level: Comprised of the final 3 years of the 11 year Compulsory education system in which classes are broken down further based on the performance of the student.

  2. Post-Compulsory Levels

    1. Upper Secondary Level: Around 67% of students continue to this level, based on combining classroom learning with the experience of apprenticeship. This is renowned for its ability to seemlessly integrate the students into the current job market.
    2. Tertiary Level: These are the final levels in which students will attend universities, institutions, or PETs (Professional Education and Training).
The levels can be seen in full below.
