South American food, when compared to typical American food is more savory, but typically less spicy. For example, the main ingredents from Cuban food, at least, is green bell pepper, onion, and garlic, or sofrito for short. This sofrito is then added to nearly every single dish in Cuban cuisine, which makes the dishes have similar, but different tastes to them. This goes the same for the rest of the countries in South America. In recap, the main difference between South American Foods and other regions is that they are more savory and take more time to develop the falvors.
