Although the Tablet PC is designed to be a rugged tool used anywhere, anytime, there are still certain measures you can take to keep it running and in good shape. Try to avoid moving the Tablet PC while its on. This can cause the drive head to crash into the casing, often called a "hard drive crash." To transport your machine over a longer distance, such as to another building or an athletic field, its best to use the hibernate feature or to shut it down completely. More on this in the "Power" section.
Touchscreens are designed for heavy wear. You can use your stylus or your finger on them. Avoid using sharp objects and try not to pile books on top of a closed Tablet PC. Never use harsh chemical cleansers or window cleaner on the screen of your Tablet PC. A damp, soft cloth should be adequate. Stores like Amazon sell micro-fiber cloths which can also be used safely on any electronic device or touchscreen.

Other parts of your Tablet PC can get dirty as well. Using the same damp cloth or microfiber, you can gently wipe down the keyboard too. This is best done when the computer is off. Tablet PCs and laptops have a membrane underneath the keyboard to help prevent damage caused by liquid, however, its wise not to eat or drink over a Tablet PC.
Hawken does not provide or require a specific case for your Tablet PC. You should find one that suits your needs. Some students have used zippered neoprene pouches while others have backpacks designed for a laptop or Tablet PC. Whatever you decide on using, make sure you have a way of transporting your computer during the long, cold, brutal Cleveland winter.
