Connecting Devices

Most devices these days require very little to connect to your Tablet PC.  Plug them in and they work.  Below are a few tips for connecting and using devices that might make it easier.

iPod

Installing iTunes prior to connecting an iPod will make sure your computer has all of the updated drivers.  Drivers are miniature programs that run in the background that let Windows talk to your device.  If iTunes suggests a software update, you should do it.

Camera

Cameras can have unique cables that are required to connect to your Tablet PC.  Make sure that you use the one that came with your camera.  Cameras can also come with special software that will allow you to do basic photo editing and revisions.  All cameras should allow you to access your pictures from "Computer" where they are stored in a folder and can be copied to another drive, sent via email, or uploaded to sites like Flickr or Snapfish.  The location and name of that folder will vary by manufacturer, make, and model.

SD Card

As covered in the section on back ups, SD Cards provide a small and convenient way to store extra files or back up important ones.  Check that section for more details.  Remember; your Tablet PC has an SD Card slot on the side.  If you remove an SD Card from a phone or other device, you can insert it into the slot on your Tablet PC and access the files from "Computer".

Microphone and Webcam

Your Tablet PC comes with a built-in webcam that should function without any configuration in programs such as OneNote and Skype.  There is also a microphone jack on your Tablet PC for an external microphone that provides a much higher quality recording than the built-in internal microphone.

Printers

Like the iPod, its best to have your printer's software installed before you plug it into your Tablet PC.  Don't rely on the install CD that came with your printer as the drivers and software can be outdated.  Always go to the manufacturer's website to download and install the latest printer software.
